Antiferromagnetic order of strongly interacting fermions in a trap: real-space dynamical mean-field analysis

چکیده
We apply dynamical mean-field theory to strongly interacting fermions in an inhomogeneous environment. With the help of this real-space dynamical mean-field theory (R-DMFT) we investigate antiferromagnetic states of repulsively interacting fermions with spin12 in a harmonic potential. Within R-DMFT, antiferromagnetic order is found to be stable in spatial regions with total particle density close to one, but persists also in parts of the system where the local density significantly deviates from half filling. In systems with spin imbalance, we find that antiferromagnetism is gradually suppressed and phase separation emerges beyond a critical value of the spin imbalance. 4 Author to whom any correspondence should be addressed. Néel transition of lattice fermions in a harmonic trap: a real-space dynamic mean-field study.
We study the magnetic ordering transition for a system of harmonically trapped ultracold fermions with repulsive interactions in a cubic optical lattice, within a real-space extension of dynamical mean-field theory. Using a quantum Monte Carlo impurity solver, we establish that antiferromagnetic correlations are signaled, at strong coupling, by an enhanced double occupancy. This signature is di...
متن کاملExotic superfluid states of lattice fermions in elongated traps.
We present real-space dynamical mean-field theory calculations for attractively interacting fermions in three-dimensional lattices with elongated traps. The critical polarization is found to be 0.8, regardless of the trap elongation. Below the critical polarization, we find unconventional superfluid structures where the polarized superfluid and Fulde-Ferrell-Larkin-Ovchinnikov-type states emerg...
متن کاملDynamical mean-field equations for strongly interacting fermionic atoms in arbitrary potential traps
– We derive a set of general dynamical mean-field equations for strongly interacting fermionic atoms in arbitrary slowly varying potential traps. Our derivation generalizes the ansatz of the crossover wave function to the inhomogeneous case. The equations reduce to a time-dependent Gross-Pitaevskii equation on the BEC side of the resonance. We discuss an iteration method to solve these mean-fie...
متن کاملDynamical Mean Field Theory of the Antiferromagnetic Metal to Antiferromagnetic Insulator Transition
We study the zero temperature antiferromagnetic metal to antiferromagnetic insulator transition using dynamical mean field theory and exact diagonalization methods. We find two qualitatively different behaviors depending on the degree of magnetic correlations. For strong correlations combined with magnetic frustration, the transition can be described in terms of a renormalized Slater theory, wi...
متن کاملMott transition and antiferromagnetism of cold fermions in the decorated honeycomb lattice
We investigate two-component ultracold fermions loaded in a decorated honeycomb lattice described by the Hubbard model with repulsive interactions and nearest-neighbor hopping. The phase transitions are studied by combining the cellular dynamical mean-field theory with the continuous-time quantum Monte Carlo method. For weak interactions, the quadratic band crossing point is broken to a linear ...
